A Little History

Since our inception, almost a half a century ago, Basin Printing & Imaging has grown with Durango and the Four Corners region. Beginning as a small store-front map making company on West Tenth Street in 1957 serving the newly growing oil and gas industry BP&I has transcended into a multi-faceted production house serving the diverse needs of an environmentally conscious community with over 12,600 square feet of production space.

BP&I has provided surrounding communities with services designed to promote success and recognition and understanding of our unique area. A variety of communication products including offset printing, on demand digital reproductions, wide media color output products, graphic design, bulk mail and fulfillment services have enabled our customers to reach out to their clientele, supporters, constituents and potential customers.

Basin Printing & Imaging is a diverse on-demand, offset and digital print company employing more than 20 skilled, experienced individuals from the Four Corners region. We take pride in what they do, and it shows.

Our Staff

People are the greatest asset our company has. The people in our community, our customers, our suppliers and the creative individuals who make up our team are what set us apart from others in the industry.

Many members of our staff have a lifetime of experience in the business and are second-generation to the industry. They provide insightful knowledge of past processes and grow with the industry applying the latest technology standards to one of the oldest trades in history. Each individual on our staff is a vital part of our ability to provide the diverse types of services our customers require, and deserve.

Staff members have established student workstudy / mentoring programs allowing students to create graphic communications for local non-profit organizations. This allows the student to have hands-on learning experiences in the industry, be involved in a community service project and provide needed products to non-profit organizations.

Our Equipment & Facility

We maintain some of the best equipment in the industry including Heidelberg¨, Screen¨, Epson¨, Canon¨ and Xerox¨. Our skilled professionals are educated in the latest hardware and software and attend annual seminars, training and industry trade shows to better help you, our valued customer, stay on the cutting edge.

Our full service print-on-demand center. Xerox¨ color and Canon¨ speed make up the bulk of our equipment inventory. Bates labeling for litigation-ready documentation, environmental consulting reports and large presentations is available on our Canon ImageRunner. Our bindery and finishing department provides, punched, spiral, comb, booklet, perfect and ring bindery, laminating, folding, numbering, die cutting and shrink wrap packaging putting the best finishing touches on any presentation.

Our design and prepress department fully staffed with professional graphic design / illustrators and prepress operators. Two Howtek drum scanners provide digital imagry with the highest resolution possible. Our direct-to-plate imaging reduces materials, streamlines workflow and is the most environmentally-friendly process on the market today. Neutral grey viewing areas and a climate-controlled environment enhance color accuracy and detail. Several Epson¨ printers provide contract-quality proofs with color calibration so accurate it is often difficult to tell the proof from the printed piece.

Also available for fine artists, architects and the earth science industry is our Giclee prints. Fine art prints, architectural renderings and GPS mapping output up to 40" wide are now possible from your digital file or a high resolution scan. Matching PowerPoint presentations and web design can accomodate any product providing you with consistency and creativity for a well-rounded impression. Our Mission

Basin Printing & Imaging has been a long standing member in the National Association for Printing Leadership (NAPL formerly the National Association of Printers and Lithographers). Membership and participation in the Printing Industries of America (PIA) and Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (GATF) has provided our staff continued education in the fast-past industry of graphics technology. Members of our staff attend seminars, training and national trade shows annually.

Our goal is to provide the highest quality reproduction services utilizing the most recent technology available in a friendly, casual atmosphere. We don’t think of ourselves as just printers, but a company of craftsmen who care about the quality of their work. Many of our employees have dedicated a lifetime of workmanship to the industry.
